A magnetic golf towel is a normal golf towel with a strong magnet built in. Instead of hanging off your bag on a clip, it sticks to anything steel, so it's right there when you need to clean a club or a ball.
What does it stick to?
- Irons and wedges. Most iron and wedge heads are steel, so the towel sticks straight to the club you're about to hit.
- Most putters. Steel putter heads hold it fine. Some putters are aluminium or have non-steel parts, so give yours a test.
- Steel golf cart frames. Stick it to the frame of the cart and it's there all round.
What doesn't it stick to?
- Your driver. Most driver heads are titanium, which isn't magnetic.
- Aluminium. Plenty of push buggies have aluminium frames, and magnets won't hold on aluminium. Use the carabiner instead.
- The fabric of your golf bag. That's what the carabiner is for.

Why waffle microfibre?
A waffle weave has lots of small raised squares that get into the grooves of your irons and pull dirt out, rather than just pushing it around. Microfibre also dries faster than a cotton towel, which matters on a wet winter morning. At 40 × 60 cm there's enough towel for grips and hands as well as clubs.
How to wash a magnetic golf towel
- Take the carabiner off first.
- Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle with similar colours.
- Skip bleach and fabric softener. Softener clogs microfibre and makes it less absorbent.
- Air dry where you can, and don't iron it.
Are they worth it?
If you've ever left a towel on a green, watched one fall off a clip into the mud, or walked back to the bag mid-hole to clean a club, then yes. A magnetic towel lives on the thing you're using, not the thing you left behind.
